Pinterest and Magento: Selling your products on Pinterest

magento-pinterestPinterest is a massively popular social media platform used by over 72 million people, over two thirds of which are women. But men are a fast growing segment of Pinterest users; as SproutSocial has noted, one third of all new Pinterest sign-ups are for men.

As many people know, Pinterest is a popular tool where people can share images and pin them to their various boards. These images can be witty sayings,  cleaver quotes, funny pictures, favorite recipes, stylish clothes, and much more.

Merchants are now tapping Pinterest as another channel from which they can make sales, and merchants using Magento will be pleased to learn that there is already an integration that makes selling their products on Pinterest available.

pinterest-buy-it-button-pinsThis integration was developed by a Magento partner, Creatuity, and is available for both Community and Enterprise editions of Magento. You can learn more here. It is different than other Pinterest integrations/modules in that it is not limited to allowing people to just "Pin" products.

When a merchant integrates their Magento store with Pinterest and starts posting images of their products to Pinterest, app users will see a blue "buy it" button on Buyable pins. They can then purchase the item within the Pinterest app. Buyable Pins make it easier than ever for shoppers to buy their favorite finds and pins right from their Pinterest iPhone or iPad app.

The best part about this is that Pinterest does not (yet) collect a transaction fee from the merchant like many other channels (think Amazon and eBay).
